Oh, how precious you look! It really is quite lovely. I take it you reenact? And I love your hat!
Here’s the photo, for everyone else:

Silk dress | Met Museum | c. 1869
This dress directly contradicts the belief that the colour red was for wanton women!

The link doesn’t work :/ could you resend it, please? I’d love to see!
Thank you! I currently reenact the Middle Ages (late 1300s/early 1400s is my specialty) and the American Civil War (I’m a reb), though I make costumes for other eras such as the Regency period. Though I don’t have many pictures at all of me DURING a reenactment, I’ll put up the few that I do possess :) I’m so pleased that you’re interested. And oh, I’m terribly flattered. You are too kind!
(Is this LRML- don’t want to post your last name - or another Lisa? :p )
Unfortunately, though I’ve seen plenty of stays and petticoats that are bound, I’ve never seen an example of a gown with binding. But please send photos when you’ve finished! I’d love to see the finished product :D
That’s wonderful that my humble blog could help you! Those particular dresses are from the Metropolitan Museum. Though this entry isn’t for them, you can see them in the photo on The Met’s website here.
