Form the Germanic National Museum
We have the 18th c on the brain… Majorly.

Silk stays (probably Spanish), Met, third-quarter of the 18th century
Silk dress (probably Spanish), Met. The museum website simply states that this garment is from the “18th century”; however, from my experience I would date this between 1770 and 1780.

Maria Theresa of Austria was painted wearing “Oriental” costume for a masquerade in 1744 by Martin van Meytens.
