A fine fabric for scarfs, handkerchiefs, embroidery, etc., woven from the fiber obtained from the leaf of the sterile pineapple plant.

Silk dress (probably Spanish), Met. The museum website simply states that this garment is from the “18th century”; however, from my experience I would date this between 1770 and 1780.
